We have been only using WordPress 3.6 a few months and true to their word here is Version 3.7 of WordPress, named “Basie” in honor of Count Basie the brilliant American Jazz Pianist and composer. This release features some of the most important architectural updates that WordPress has made. It also is proof of the quicker release cycles we have been speaking of in past blogs. WordPress will reportedly be releasing WordPress 3.8 by the end of the year. Having your site with JamJo and using one of our regular maintenance plans has never been more important. Here are the big updates in this release with countless bug fixes:
- Stronger password recommendations: Your password is your site’s first line of defense. It’s best to create passwords that are complex, long, and unique. To that end, the password meter has been updated in WordPress 3.7 to recognize common mistakes that can weaken the password: dates, names, keyboard patterns (123456789), and even pop culture references.
- Better global support: Localized versions of WordPress will receive faster and more complete translations. WordPress 3.7 adds support for automatically installing the right language files and keeping them up to date, a boon for the many millions who use WordPress in a language other than English.
It’s worth noting again that WordPress has a new release cycle which can be summed up by saying, more and more releases of core updates will be made ready for download each quarter. JamJo will apply all updates for you, including all plugins and give you dedicated WordPress support as always. Without these updates you are vulnerable to hacks and malware so its best to keep all WordPress sites up to date with JamJo ;) All client sites will be updated immediately.
